Róbert Kormaňák

Representative of the Slovak Republic in ISO for Project Management

Graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Comenius University in Bratislava and the Faculty of Law in Trnava. He specializes in project management and consulting in the areas of quality management systems, risk management, project management, IT services, and information security. Professionally, he has worked in the fields of IT, automotive, and energy – on both the supplier and client sides.

He is a certified auditor for ISO 9000, ISO 20000, and ISO 27000, and holds additional certifications such as Prince2 Practitioner, MSP Practitioner, P30 Foundation, and ITIL V3 Foundation.
He is a member and designated representative of the Slovak Republic in international technical ISO committees: ISO TC258 (Project Management), ISO JTC1 SC7 (Software Engineering), and ISO JTC1 SC40 (IT Service Management). He also prepared the Slovak edition of the international standard ISO 21500 – Guidance on Project Management.

Zuzana Civáňová

Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra

Zuzana Civáňová is a Slovak philologist and Hispanist. She graduated from Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, where she defended her PhD dissertation in 2017. She specializes in the Spanish language and the literatures of Spanish-speaking countries and works at the Department of Romance and Germanic Studies at the Faculty of Arts, UKF in Nitra.

She is the author of the concept for a new study program Foreign Languages in Project Practice – the first of its kind in Slovakia – developed in cooperation with the Chamber of Project Managers, the PMI Slovakia Chapter, and IPMA Slovakia.
Currently, she is establishing a research team focused on the terminology of project management in selected foreign languages (English, German, Spanish, Italian, French) and organizes popular science lectures and seminars with industry experts for secondary and university students.

Project Assumptions and Prerequisites in Theory and Practice

A well-structured contractual collaboration between the client and the supplier is a key prerequisite for the success of any project. If clearly defined and mutually accepted commitments are missing from the outset, the project is inevitably bound to face problems and conflicts. In practice, it often happens that many project requirements are not explicitly stated in the contract or project documentation – yet the client still expects them to be fulfilled.

The ability of a project manager to formulate, negotiate, manage, and most importantly, ensure the fulfillment of these commitments is therefore one of their essential competencies. It is important to remember that contractual obligations exist on both sides.

The workshop will begin with an introductory presentation focused on the terminology and principles of defining contractual commitments. This will be followed by a practical, hands-on session in which participants will prepare a concrete project assignment, including clearly defined assumptions and counter-obligations prior to the actual project implementation.
